Corporate Offices

Location: Dubai, UAE
Use: Commercial
Scope: Internal & FaÇade Lighting Design
Year: 2016

Internal: UMAYA’s scope of work involved interior lighting design to the entire building. Accordingly, we focused on three primary strategies catering to three key sub-scopes:

Main Lobby: our approach was to Illuminate the vertical surfaces across the entire space, thereby enabling it to appear much more spacious. The result is a first impression replete with brightness thus resulting in a more inviting presence.

The Entrance: is comprised of a (i) reception wherein the lighting serves to illuminate feature walls so as to accentuate corporate branding (ii) café and (iii) lounge with the latter two acting as islands for private communication. To allow these islands to standout and be differentiated from the rest of the circulation area, warm accent lighting is utilized in the form of decorative table lamps.

Office Spaces: A work environment enhanced by relaxed visual comfort is key to enabling any and all employees to focus on their work. Our lighting design concept for the office spaces was oriented towards balancing maximum fixture efficiency against optimal visual conditions for the occupant. Lighting levels were thus zoned depending upon work surfaces, wall shelving/joinery and conference tables to ensure a varied and attractive work environment.  Within VIP areas, the individual task lighting is added in the form of LED desk luminaires and pendant lights.  All in all though, UMAYA had to be sensitive to the multiple requirements of the various spaces were engaged with designing. From open spaces to private offices, meeting rooms an auditorium and an exhibition area  - all of these were designed using distinctive lighting schemes to facilitate responsiveness to the particular task requirement of each area. The final result is UMAYA’s use of lighting to clearly define different spaces throughout the building space thereby creating a dynamic work ambiance.

At all times UMAYA’s specifications focused upon two key criteria: (i) Consistency of lighting specifications and (ii) the use of flexible lens technology, both of which were enablers of a homogeneous overall appearance for the company no matter where in the building an occupant was.

Landscape: UMAYA’s lighting design intent focused showcasing the landscape architecture in a subtle, yet elegant manner; one that considers highlighting the horizontal element of the accumulated planter boxes whilst simultaneously washing the vertical curved wall through the use of indirect linear lights using concealed sources of light. UMAYA specified warm color temperatures to enhances the ambient lighting atmosphere and resulting in a more inviting approach to the main building. Ease of maintenance and field-adjustability were key factors UMAYA accounted for when specifying fixtures.
