Mama Shelter Dubai
PROJECT: MAMA SHELTER DUBAI
LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
SCOPE: INTERIOR & EXTERIOR LIGHTING DESIGN
For Mama Shelter, UMAYA developed a lighting strategy that structures intensity across a highly expressive interior, bringing clarity to a deliberately layered environment. Public areas are conceived as a continuous social landscape, where contrast defines zones, guides movement, and establishes hierarchy. Localized pools of warm light anchor seating and dining, while darker transitions preserve depth and avoid visual saturation. Decorative fixtures are calibrated within the overall composition, ensuring they contribute to atmosphere without overpowering it. Integrated lighting within arches, ceilings, and joinery reinforces spatial rhythm, while underlit elements and concealed sources enhance material texture and create a controlled visual flow.
Across secondary spaces, the approach shifts in scale but maintains consistency in intent. Outdoor areas rely on low intensity ambient layers and reflected light to preserve openness without glare, while water becomes an active surface through submerged linear lighting and soft reflections. More intimate zones such as lounges, spa, and guest rooms are resolved through reduced, embedded sources that prioritize comfort and calm, balancing functional clarity with ambient softness. Task driven environments including meeting rooms and gym areas are handled with precision, using glare controlled fixtures and subtle indirect light to maintain visual comfort. The result is a cohesive lighting language that filters intensity, builds spatial rhythm, and supports the identity of Mama Shelter with technical control.
