Dubai Cruise Terminal
LOCATION: DUBAI, UAE
USE: TRANSPORTATION
SCOPE: INTERNAL, FACADE & LANDSCAPE LIGHTING DESIGN
Dubai Harbour is a world-class marina and cruise terminal integrated into a waterfront community. The project consists of two cruise terminals, in addition to service buildings, parking and linking stations to public transport.
The architectural design is simple and contemporary, so the overall lighting strategy aimed at delivering stringent illumination values, while factoring daylight ingress and enhancing the architecture. A combination of direct and indirect lighting across the open hall helps render the space and defines areas of low and high intensity, namely check-in, immigration, screening, waiting and boarding. The VIP areas were complemented with a track mounted system to provide further character and layering.
The exterior lighting scheme focused on the building’s geometry and texture, while keeping the parking and landscape areas subdued.
